I wished Marilyn a Happy Mother’s Day as soon as we woke up. Then I fixed poached eggs on English muffins. They are one of our favorite breakfasts. After lunch we drove to Sam’s to get some more ink cartridges for the printer, so we would not run out on the way to Alaska and back.
All three of our kids called to wish Marilyn a Happy Mother’s Day – Bev, Doug, and Allan (he lived with us to finish high school when his parents moved to Ohio.
For sightseeing today, we went to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center for a return visit. We had gone in 2002. This time it was free because we had Senior Passes for National Parks. It had started to rain as we left, so we did not walk the trail along the river to the Great Falls. We did stop at some of the pull-offs. Then, when we headed back to the FamCamp, we stopped to see two more of the four falls that Lewis and Clark had had to portage.
Upon return, we went over to Don/Sharon’s rv for happy hour. I cooked lamb chops for dinner – they were great, and we had left over grilled vegetables. After dinner we called my sister Ann, and Larry & Carolyn Jarvis, just to say hi. We plan to shut off our phones tomorrow when we enter Canada, and keep them off until we enter Alaska due to cost. We should have email throughout the whole trip.
Here are todays pictures, starting with the sign for the interpretive center, and a re-created canoe being hauled over a portage inside the center.
The Missouri River has dams located just behind the Great Falls, but one can still see where the original falls were located. I have also included a down river view from the Great Falls.
We were also able to take pictures of the Rainbow Falls, and the Crooked Falls.
This is a sign depicting all of the falls that Lewis & Clark had to portage on their trip to the Pacific Ocean.
