2015-02-25 Spring Branch to Fort Stockton, TX

Yesterday, I had to get a flat tire on the Jeep fixed. I tried to do it myself, but the jack fell over. I had to call Coachnet to come and put the spare on. After getting the spare on, I took the tire for a $12 repiar. It is now the spare. The Hicks, Forbes, Del Rosario’s, and Peters had social hour together. Then we all went to Antlers for good dinners.

This morning, we all had to say goodbye to Pete and Jo, but we will see them at Escapade. We drove 303 miles to Fort Stockton, TX where we socialized with the Del Rosario’s, and joined them for dinner.

2015-02-08 Headed West

We had a wonderful time this past week at the Florida Sun Gators, Escapees RV Club Chapter 57 Rally at the Lake Magic RV Resort in Clermont, FL. We had good social hours, meals together, and great conversations. Yesterday we went to the Keel and Curley Winery. We all enjoyed the beer and wine tasting. Marilyn and I came home with a growler of Two Henry’s “Badd Apple Cider” (hard cider). It is delicious.

This morning, after donut hitches, Marilyn headed north to go west. We got diesel in Leesburg, FL for $2.58 per gallon. It was the cheapest we have paid since we went full-time in January of 2010.

We drove 280 miles (US 27 to FL 44, to I-75, to I-10), and are spending the night at Beaver Lake CG in Quincy, FL.

2015-02-04 Its About Time (Marilyn Says)

Yesterday we left Sumter Oaks RV Park, and don't plan to return until mid-October. We moved to Lake Magic RV Resort on US 192 in Clermont, FL for the Escapees Sun Gators Chapter 57 rally. We will leave here on Sunday, 2/8 to start West.

The last time I wrote a blog was on 12/21, and we have been busy just living at Sumter Oaks.

Marilyn and I had a nice Christmas morning just the two of us, and we joined friends and family for Christmas dinner at the Sumter Oaks activity center. 20141224_150556 IMG_5717 IMG_5742

On 12/29 we moved our home to site #69, which is a long-term lease (ERPU) site. It will be ours for the next 5 years with an option to renew for 5 more years. (Sharon Del Rosario took the pictures of moving day. Notice Marilyn backed the rig into the site.) 20141229_144359 20141229_144848. And then we celebrated with cocktails on the deck. 20141229_171115.

We celebrated New Year’s Eve with friends at the Activity Center. (Of course the clock was advanced 2 hours so us old folks could get home at a reasonable hour (Marilyn and I still stayed up until the NY ball dropped. IMG_4061 IMG_4063 IMG_4069 IMG_4073 IMG_4078.

January 2015 started the Real Music Series at Busch Gardens. On the 7th we saw the Coasters, we skipped the 14th, the 21st was Herman’s Hermits, and the 28th was the Diamonds. Both Herman’s Hermits and the Diamonds were great shows. Of course there are other things to see at Busch, like flowers and animals. 20150107_140952 20150121_134736 20150121_154009 IMG_5755 IMG_5786 IMG_5789.

We had friends (Nancy & Charles Elkins) visit us, and we visited friends (Pete & Mitzi Hull) and family (Paul & Peg Gifford, and Joan Bancel, 96 year old wife of Marilyn’s cousin).

On Monday the 2nd, we made our last trip, this year, to Busch Garden’s Real Music Series for Fernando Varela’s concert. At Busch, he does 3 shows per day, and we saw 2 of them because he is so good. We got pictures Marilyn and Terri with Fernando, Marge and Gordon with Fernando, and a group picture of the 4 couples (Forbes, Tobin, Jarvis and Dembsey). IMG_5766 IMG_5781 IMG_5792.

After the rally, we are heading to Tucson for the Escapade (Escapees national rally). We will continue west through Arizona to California, then north to Oregon, Washington and Canada, and then East through Canada returning to the US in Michigan, and finally back to Florida by mid-October.
