Yesterday, July 7th, we just hung around the house in the morning. After lunch, we drove back to Fortress of Louisbourg Visitor Center to look at their exhibits – nice, but nothing that we had not seen at the Fortress itself. We then drove back to see what was in their train museum plus we had to get a picture of the sign welcoming us to Louisbourg. The triain museum had numerous old photograph exhibits, and some old train cars. They even had the minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting when the Dominion Coal Company bought the Sydney to Louisbourg Railway so it could ship coal out of an ice free harbor. Among their models was this train cribbage board. After the train museum we walked downtown Louisbourg just to see what their gift shops held. Marilyn found a Lobster Tree Ornament that was calling her name. After we returned to the house, we walked back to the dock to pick up our lobster for dinner – another good one.
Today, the 8th of July, we moved the motorhome 120.1 miles. Uh, oh, I forgot that was kilometers, not miles. I had set MS Streets to kilometers. That makes for messing up my mind when I look at how far we have to go. Marilyn usually reminds me that miles are less than kilometers. Our trip was only 73 miles. We are staying outside of Baddeck, NS on Bras D’or Lakes at Adventures East RV Park. The park charges C$33 per night less a 10% discount for most organizations including Escapees and Passport. They are also a Coast to Coast Park. We chose the park for their proximity to the Cabot Trail, and there is a company in town that will provide a bus/van tour of the Cabot Trail.
Type at you later.
