Today was another moving day. We drove 128 miles from Denali National Park to Riverview RV Park in Fairbanks, AK. Dennis & Carol decided to stay in Denali for another two days, while Jean & Claudette, Don & Sharon, and Gary & Mary decided to stay at the River Edge RV Park in Fairbanks. There is a little difference in price, and a little difference in distance from the attractions.
After lunch, we drove to an Alaskan Pipeline viewing stop on I-AK-2, then to Youngs Gears, where I have to go tomorrow to get the Towed’s brake cable fixed, the Alaska Bowl Company to shop for Xmas, and then to Fred Meyer’s to shop for dinner before returning to the house.
Here are pictures taken today. (Note: I liked the first sign, because when we drove up through Canada there was a lot of news about the trans-Canada gas pipeline).
Here is the pipeline going into the ground to go under a highway. Most of the pipeline is above the ground to prevent thawing the permafrost. The oil temperature as it is extracted is in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Then there is a picture of the Bowl Factory sign.
Type at you later.
