This was a wonderful July 4th right down to needing to wear sweatshirts for the first time on a fourth. The temperature, although starting out around 50, actually climbed to 64.
The day started with breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes with onions, various sausages, and pancakes provided by Dennis Hill. It ended with a NY Strip Steak dinner provided by Don Del Rosario. Everyone else brought sides – salads, corn, water melon, and brownies with ice cream.
In the meantime, Marilyn and I, the Olson’’s, Fradette’s, Pat and Jim walked to Talkeetna to see the 4th of July parade.
Then in the afternoon, I got to join the Olson’s and Fradette’s in a small airplane. We flew to Mt. McKinley, although we only got to see a small portion of the top. We did see many of the glaciers, along with the carvings that they did on the landscape. The glacier boots were furnished.
Even the Talkeetna Air Taxi service had a moose.
Note the pilot on the left trying to tell us what to expect.
Denali (Mt. McKinley to outsiders) was trying to hide again behind the clouds. Only a small portion of its over 20,000 ft. peak was visible. Note: the colors in the picture were enhanced by software.
We did get to see many glaciers, and land on one. I was sitting in the copilot seat, so some of the pictures include the propeller.
We even saw a rainbow.
It is now 10:30am on the 6th, so I guess that I better write a blog for the 6th also. There are too many pictures to include with this one.
