We moved on the 3rd to Interlake RV Park & Sales, near Rhinebeck, NY. It was about 180 miles. Fullscreen capture 952014 35627 PM.bmp

Yesterday morning we left the park, and drove 60 miles south on the Taconic State Parkway (TSP, for passenger cars only) to Valhalla, NY for genealogy on Marilyn’s side of the family. Her grand parents and great-grand parents on the Geis DSC08260 side are buried in Kensico Cemetery. DSC08266.  After leaving Kensico, we drove to the village of Sleepy Hollow where we found the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery DSC08268 DSC08269. The Old Dutch Church was built in 1697 according to the sign and is still in use. DSC08271. Nearby is a sign for the location of The Headless Horseman Bridge made famous by Washington Irving DSC08270. The cemetery is open to the public and contains the graves of Washington Irving, Samuel Gompers and Leona Helmsley. We only went to the Irving Family plot. DSC08273 DSC08274. Before leaving the cemetery, we drove down to see the re-created Headless Horseman Bridge. DSC08276 .

After leaving Sleepy Hollow we headed up Rte. 9 with a stop at Subway for lunch followed by stops at Sam’s Club and WalMart in Fishkill before returning to the campground via TSP.

Hugs, and Type at You Later.
