We went to Water Street in downtown Montgomery today to the Visitor Center in the old Union Railroad Stateion, and then up the street to the Hank Williams Museum. We had our first Chick-fil-A since leaving FL in April, and Marilyn got her first Publix fix since that time also.
There really is a town of Kawliga, AL on Lake Martin, and, according to the Hank Williams Museum, there really was an Indian who stood on the shore of Lake Martin waiting for his Indian Maid to come back to him. Her father supposedly thought Kawliga was not good enough for her. Hank Williams heard of this story and wrote his famous song about Kawliga.
Kawliga is the mascot for my high school. There's a 6 ft. carved likeness of him standing in the entryway. And you made me hungry for a Chick-fil-A sandwich!
