We are still at Seaport RV Resort and Campground in Mystic, CT.
Last Friday, then15th, we took the Cross Sound Ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, Long Island, NY to attend the wedding of Marilyn’s best friend from High School.
Leaving New London. Along the way to Orient Point we saw Fort Trumbull. We also saw some lighthouses on the way to Orient Point, and our return to New London.
New London Light. The New London Ledge Light. The Avery Point Light. Race Rock Light. The Little Gull Island Light. Plum Island Light. And finally the Orient Point Lighthouse.
The wedding was held in the Rose Garden of the town of South Hampton’s Library. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony performed by the Town’s Mayor.
On Saturday, the 16th, we drove out to Flanders, Long Island to see the Big Duck. Marilyn’s grandparents lived in Hampton Bays, on Long Island. When she, her brother and parents went to visit, Marilyn and her brother had a contest to see who spied the big duck first.
Later, we stopped at a couple of wineries, and also saw the Horton Point Light before getting on the ferry to return to Connecticut.
Sunday, we vegged. Monday, we drove to Rhode Island to get a picture of the Watch Hill Light. Then we drove back to Stonington, CT for a picture of that lighthouse. Marilyn even climbed it.
Today, the 19th of August, Marilyn and I celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary. We spent the day at the Mystic Seaport, a much better day than the last time we were at the Mystic Seaport – September 11, 2001. Marilyn took a picture of me in front of the Charles Morgan whaling ship. We had lunch at the Sea View Snack Bar – fish and chips, and scallops. After lunch, we continued our tour of the seaport, the replica lighthouse and trying to row a boat on dry land.
We ended our anniversary day with Champaign, lobsters and clams from Grossman’s again, only this time, I cooked the lobsters. They were good even if i do say so.
Hugs, and type at you later.
Happy Anniversary!
